THE LATE STEPHEN RUSSELL TO BE HONORED BY HIS NC STATE HOCKEY TEAMMATES

 The late Stephen Russell, of Charlotte, will be remembered by his former teammates on the North Carolina State University Club Hockey Team on Friday, November 6, 2009.  Prior to the home opener against UNC, the son of  Brady and Kelly Buckley will have his jersey retired in a special ceremony in front of his teammates, classmates, family and friends. CHARLOTTE FLAMES WIN GOLDEN PUCK TOURNAMENT

The Charlotte Flames youth hockey teams followed up their January success at the Golden Puck Tournament with a first place win for the Squirt A (U10) team and a second place showing for the Bantams (U14) at Presidents Day Tournaments in Chesapeake, Virginia and Nashville, Tennessee, respectively.(complete story)


JOE DARSEY AND BRANDON MARTIN BUSY ON THE ICE

Ice Hockey continues to grow in popularity in the Charlotte region. With the recent opening of Extreme Ice Center off Highway 74, the game seems to have picked up even more steam.  Two Ardrey Kell High School students, Joe Darsey and Brandon Martin are key members of the Charlotte Junior Checkers Midget 16U team.  The team recently won the 3rd Annual Martin Luther King Ice Hockey Tournament in Orlando, FL.(complete story)
