Marvin Ridge High School senior baseball player Jake Machado has been named the Community Hero of the Week Presented by the Union County Comets. Jake is a three year starter at catcher for the Mavericks team and was recently recognized as a finalist for the Catcher of the Year Award at the Greater Charlotte Hot Stove League Awards. He will attend Belmont Abbey and play baseball in the Fall.

 

 
Jake has been named to two Perfect Game All Tournament Teams while playing with his showcase organization. He has been a strong asset to the Mavericks team with his defense and leadership behind the plate over the years. Jake will serve as a Team Captain this spring.
The Adam Faulk Tanksley Foundation has been a home for Jake to perform community service over the years. He has recorded over 150 hours of service helping to raise money to fight childhood cancer through the sale of Christmas Trees and other events. Jake also serves as a volunteer at Transformation Church.

 

 
Jake is a successful student at Marvin Ridge and he is looking to major in Sports Management while attending Belmont Abbey. Congratulations to Jake Machado for being named the Community Hero of the Week Presented by the Union County Comets.
