Ardrey Kell High School senior basketball player Harper Hendricks always strives to be the very best he can be.  Whether it’s on the basketball court, where he is now the second all time leader in assists for the Knights, or inside the classroom, where he carries a 4.83 grade point average.  The son of Allen and Amy Hendricks moves into the final month of his high school basketball career with a goal of leading the Knights deep into the state playoffs.

Harper is a three year varsity player for Head Coach Mike Craft and a true floor general on the court.  Harper is willing to do whatever it takes for his team to succeed.  He is much more concerned with the teams wins and losses than his statistical numbers.  The Knights have a long history of successful point guards and Harper will leave behind quite a legacy for the next playmaker to follow.

Among his top memories are a recent come from behind win.

“We came from eight points down in the 4th quarter of the championship game in the Ashbrook Holiday Hoopfest.  It was a great personal and team victory, especially since we had not won a Christmas tournament while I have been on varsity.”

Inside the classroom it’s important to note that Harper is a real All-American with a high academic resume.  Harper is enrolled in Honors and AP classes and last year was selected as a Junior Marshall for graduation. He is currently narrowing his choices down for college and it looks like a choice between the ACC and SEC. “I am planning to attend either Auburn or NC State, which are my favorites right now.”

Harper has also been active in helping others.

“I went to Armenia last summer on a mission trip with my church, Myers Park United Methodist.  It was humbling to experience the hardships that people live with around the world and life changing to form relationships with people from such different backgrounds and cultures.”

The South Charlotte Sports Report salutes Harper Hendricks for working hard to be the best he can be.  Harper has made an impact in many ways at Ardrey Kell and we are certain he will perform at the very top in college classes.  Good luck Harper!
