Cuthbertson High School senior volleyball player Lauryn Nash has been named the Union County Student Athlete of the Week Powered by
Huntington Learning Center. The daughter of Tom and Lisa Nash is a defensive specialist for the Cavaliers. Her responsibilities on the court
include serve receive, play left back or right back defense, be encouraging, communicate and to go for every ball.

 
Lauryn has been a leader on the team for the last couple of years and along with her sister Mariel, helped the lead the Cavaliers to many victories.
Lauryn began playing volleyball in fifth grade.

 
“My older sister played and loved the sport so I wanted to try it as well. I ended up loving it, especially because my first coach was amazing with
us girls and really helped us to develop our basic volleyball skills. I also enjoyed the friendships I made from being on a team.”

 
Lauryn has found great success in the classroom and earned a place on the A Honor Roll every semester. She is enrolled in several AP and
honors classes. Lauryn received the Academic Excellence Award for several years now which is given to the top two students in the grade. She
was a Super Sophomore and Chief Junior Marshall (honor for top members of class) at Cuthbertson graduations the last two years. Lauryn also serves as the President of the National Honor Society. Following high school graduation she hopes to major in Political Science or History in college and then pursue a law degree.
