Covenant Day School senior soccer player Matthew Blongissue236Blong
has been named the Architech Sports and Physical Therapy
Student Athlete of the Week. Matthew, the son of Richard
and Mary Blong plays Center Defender for the Lions. He
has played soccer since the third grade and hopes to close
out his prep career with a conference championship.

Matthew enjoys the friendships built along the way with
all of his teammates. “We’re brothers from all different
families and backgrounds and we would sacrifice anything
for each other. My experience as a student-athlete on
Covenant Day’s Soccer Team would be absolutely nothing
without the family that has been created with this team on and off the field. They
are my brothers for which I depend and rely on the most, and I am truly grateful
because of them.”

Matthew is a High Honor Roll student and is in the National Honor Society and
National Arts Honor Society. He is interested in attending either Wake Forest
or UNC-Chapel Hill and playing on one of their club soccer teams. Matthew has
participated in Joy Prom, which is an event held by Carmel Baptist Church that
serves people with special needs and disabilities. Congratulations to Matthew
Blong for being named the Architech Sports and Physical Therapy Student Athlete
of the Week.
