Metrolina Christian Football Player Wins Award
Metrolina Christian Academy sophomore Luke Bricken has been named the Architech Sports and Physical Therapy Student-Athlete of the Week. The son of J.D. and Myra Bricken is helping to lead the way on the Warriors Football Team this fall. Luke, an All-Conference performer is one of the leading tacklers in Union County this year from his linebacker position. As of two weeks ago, Luke had recorded 70 Tackles, 13 Tackles for Loss, 3 sacks, 4 Hurries, 1 Forced Fumble. The Warriors are currently in the second round of the state playoffs and hope to advance to the finals.
In baseball, Luke is the starting third baseman for his school and he held a .351 batting average with 23 RBI’s last season.
Inside the classroom, Luke carries a 4.4 grade point average and is enrolled in many honors classes. Luke is also active in the Hamilton Cross Roads Baptist Church. At the church he helps in outreach programs and he plans to take a missions trip to Costa Rica this summer to help in an orphanage.
